As a parent, dedicating your child to the Lord is one of the most important significant parental decisions you could make. Offering your child to the Lord is an act of thanksgiving signifying the parents' gratitude toward God for His gracious gift.

It is an act of identification, as having the child publicly dedicated to the Lord, the parents are identifying themselves with the Body of Christ, and identifying their child with the Christian faith and way of life.
