Dear Tabernacle Family,
“Lather, Rinse, Repeat.” We have all heard this phrase before. I’m sure you have heard these 3 words before from your mother, hairdresser or just read it on the back of the shampoo bottle. These words remind me of the routineness of life. We go through seemingly insignificant days with our schedules and routines. Punching the time clock, laundry, dishes, school work, paying
bills, watching Netflix, eating dinner, running the kids everywhere. “Lather.” After all the busyness, we get our said 6-8 hrs of sleep. “Rinse.” Then we wake up and do it all over again. “Repeat.” The mundane of Lather, Rinse, Repeat can become commonplace and often we feel like we are trapped in a never-ending cycle of same old, same old.
Yet there is beauty in our everyday lives, more then what we have stopped to think about. On any given day that you are lathering, rinsing, and repeating, just being on this planet you are rotating on its axis at 1,000mph! If that’s not amazing enough, Earth is moving around the sun at speeds of 67,000mph. That means on your average day you have traveled more them 1.5 million miles in time and space. If God can do the big things like keeping the planets in orbit, He can surely master the small things, those little amazing details of our lives.
What I am suggesting is that we look beyond the lather, rinse, repeat in our lives to see God in the big things and the little things. There is age-old saying: “beauty is in the eye of the beholder,” but I think everything is in the eye of our Beholder. Let’s desire to see God beyond our tasks and schedules and ask the Holy Spirit to reveal Him in all things. Prayer is what activates this movement in our lives. So today, invite the Holy Spirit to see God in the “lather,
rinse, repeat” of life. It will restore joy, create hope, and we begin to see God in a greater dimension. He is Omnipresent but wants you to invite Him into everything. So, invite his presence with you while you do the laundry, while we are working, running errands, find him, and seek him out in all things. Stop seeing the world just as we are and see the world as He is, in all it’s splendor!!
My prayer for us: God, We invite the Holy Spirit to see you in every detail in our lives. Give us wisdom and revelation in the little things and the big things. Let us see You like never before.
And tomorrow while you are actually lathering, rinsing and repeating with your shampoo think about the fact that every hair on your head is numbered.
In His Name,
