TAB Blog: Pastor Jo Ann Angelo and Pastor Tom Rinn

By April 22, 2018Uncategorized

Dear Tabernacle Family,

As I pass the 30-year anniversary of my tenure as an Associate Pastor at The Tabernacle, I hope it’s okay if I reminisce a little. I was led to the Tabernacle in 1983. I felt the call of ministry, so I began to prepare by attending Houghton College where I graduated with a degree in Biblical Studies and Counseling. Upon graduation, we were each asked, “What is your dream for the future.” My answer was, “To be an integral part of a World-Wide Ministry.” Little did I know God would connect me to the dreamer of all dreamers, Tommy Reid! I was ordained to ministry by Pastor Reid. I have had credentials with Elim Fellowship, CovNet and I am currently Ordained with The Assemblies of God.

My relationship with Bishop Reid, Wanda and Aimee was strong from the very beginning and has been a blessing to me over these many years. I will always be grateful to them not only for trusting me in ministry, but for their love and encouragement both personally and professionally. Because of them I have met and served the greatest teachers, preachers and world leaders of our time. I am also thankful to Bishop Robert Stearns. I was privileged to be here for the first East Coast Leadership Conference and though my time here is changing it is not ending. The dream continues as a new world of leaders and ministry has opened to me through Eagles’ Wings.

In my time here, I have had the opportunity to touch thousands of lives through the several ministries I was given oversight to: The TV Department, Pastoral Care, Dean of Students at Buffalo School of the Bible also called “The School of the Prophets.” Also traveling and teaching in the Philippines and in Honduras. After the school became part of Elim, I became the Director of Pastoral Care. In addition to counseling and visitation I officiated at many weddings and funerals. Some of my favorite times here were being part of the intercessory and altar teams during Renewal with Pastor Dennis Shearer, teaching the Wednesday night service for so many years and overseeing the World Prayer Center. But without a doubt my greatest memories are of the times I spent with Marilyn Hickey and calling her friend. Thank you Pastor Ruddy and my Tabernacle family for allowing me to fulfill my dreams in unbelievable ways and to still be here to dream into the future.

Blessings,

Pastor Jo Ann Angelo

“Giving thanks always for all things to God the Father …” Ephesians 5:20

I have been so blessed to have the opportunity to be involved in the ministry of The Tabernacle for over 50 years. It has been noted in many contexts that life is a tapestry. Each strand intertwined with others from birth into the senior years. As I gazed upon my own tapestry I am drawn to the brighter splashes of color.

At the age of 11, I had an encounter with God at the Lakeview Gospel Camp and was filled with the Holy Spirit. This instilled within me a strong desire to be used by God for His purpose. Little did I know that Pastor Tommy Reid would come to the Buffalo area in 1963 and that God would use him to shape my life.

I first served as the Youth Pastor and as a member of a Youth Ministry Team that traveled throughout the Northeast on weekends ministering at churches with a message to other teenagers. In 1980 I was invited to join The Tabernacle staff and had the opportunity to serve on the Board for many years as well as participate on mission trips to Europe and the Philippines.

Within the local church we witnessed tremendous moves of the Holy Spirit. I saw God’s miracles first hand. I have had the opportunity to sit at the feet of great men and women in the faith such as Oral Roberts, Fern Olson, Kathryn Kuhlman, Harald Bradeson, T.L. Osborn and many others. We were always challenged by God to stay on the cutting edge of what He was going to do. First came the Catholic Charismatics, and then the Jesus People. I witnessed lives that were dramatically changed by the power of God during these times and church attendance ‘exploded.’ Many of those touched by the Holy Spirit became future pastors, ministers, missionaries and church leaders. It was an exciting time.

Cheryl and I are so blessed and thankful to be a part of The Tabernacle family heritage; to see the children and grandchildren of the early saints continue to worship the Lord in this house. Their sacrifices, prayers and labor continuing to carry the living Word to future generations.

Life has certainly added color to my tapestry. What appears the brightest? The day I said yes to Jesus!
