Pastor’s Pen: Our Food Pantry

By November 5, 2017Uncategorized

Dear Tabernacle Family,

Approximately 10 years ago I was called by the Lord to serve at the Food Pantry. God directed me to show the kind of compassion that would represent a Great King. I was to serve every client as if I was serving Jesus Himself. I knew that each of the clients that we would serve would be the test, and that we must apply the Word of God that we had learned to every situation that would arise. We were instructed to look at the Food Pantry as a type of outpost and outer-gate to the Lord’s Kingdom. Every person who came to this gate must be given our best, without judgment, condemnation or favoritism. Furthermore, we were to treat everyone as equal, with respect, honor and dignity, as if we were serving Jesus.

In doing so, we have been allowed to see many miracles. There have been salvations, healings, and countless other prayers that have been answered. Our clients enter as strangers, but leave as friends. We laugh and cry with them as they experience both good and hard times. Little did we know that as we helped others we were being brought closer to Jesus in our own lives.

As you know, we are currently working on our Thanksgiving and Christmas Outreaches. We will be assembling 600 food boxes for each holiday that will be distributed throughout our region as an expression of Christ’s love. Of course, we certainly want to assist anyone in need of food from our Congregation. Simply sign up at the Welcome Center if we can assist you. Thank you!

We are inviting you, our brothers and sisters in this Church Body, to join us in assembling and giving out these boxes of food, and experiencing the great joy of being the hands and feet of Jesus.
Will you join us?

Thanksgiving: Boxes assembled on Sunday, November 19 following the 10:00am service
Boxes distributed on Monday, November 20 from 10:00am – 6:00pm

Christmas: Boxes assembled on Sunday, December 17 following the 10:00am service
Boxes distributed on Monday, December 18 from 10:00am – 6:00pm

Finally, please know that the door of opportunity to serve in the Food Pantry Ministry is always open to you. We hope you will consider volunteering to serve Jesus by serving others through this vital outreach and expression of God’s love.

God bless you,

Jim & Lisa Delmont and each of the Food Pantry Volunteers
