Pastor’s Pen: Day of Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem

By October 1, 2017Uncategorized

Dear Tabernacle Family,

Today is the Day of Prayer for the Peace of Jerusalem. All over the world millions of Christians in 175 nations are gathering to pray in accordance with Psalm 122, agreeing for God’s blessing and Shalom on the city where the Lord said “I will put my name” (2 Kings 21:4).

“Our feet have been standing within your gates, O Jerusalem!” (Psalms 122:2)

As you read this, members of The Tabernacle, along with myself and believers from all over the world are literally “standing in the gates of Jerusalem” leading a global prayer meeting that is being broadcast to 192 nations around the world on GOD TV. (You can visit daytopray.com/godtv to see the broadcast times.)

The scripture goes on to say , “For the sake of my brethren and companions, I will now say, ‘Peace be within you.’” (Psalms 122:8)

We stand linked today, through God’s covenant plan, to our brothers and sisters in Jerusalem. The scriptures makes it clear that we have a responsibility as the wild olive branch grafted in (Romans 11) to pray for and support the Jewish people, while also agreeing for God’s blessing for the Arab people. As we pray this way, we are praying in alignment with God’s heart.

This passage concludes with “Because of the house of the LORD our God I will seek your good.” (Psalms 122:9)

There is a “house” that God is building here at The Tabernacle and around the world; it is the “house of prayer for all nations.” Praying for Jerusalem and her inhabitants on this day and every day releases the blessing of the Lord on this house, on your house, and the city of Jerusalem. Your voice counts, your prayers matter, so take your place today as “watchmen on the wall” (Isaiah 56:7) as we lift up a united prayer.

Here are some of the ways you can participate today:
– Jerusalem Prayer Card – You should have received a Jerusalem Prayer Card as you came in with a simple prayer you can pray and scriptures for further study and declaration.

– Participate in the 24-hour “Virtual Prayer Room” conference call until midnight tonight. Led by trained prayer leaders, join in with others from around the world interceding for Jerusalem and Israel all day. To participate Dial 712-432-0075, and enter passcode 7739242#

– Get more prayer resources at www.daytopray.com/pledge – There are downloadable resources with more scriptures and prayers you can pray.

Whatever way you choose to participate, I want to thank you for joining in this global cry declaring, “Peace be within your walls…Jerusalem!”
(Psalms 122:7)

For Zion’s Sake,
Bishop Robert Stearns
